Banana Bread Day!

Banana Bread Day is always February 23 but we eat banana bread all throughout the year.

I was raised on the original banana bread recipe. My Mother always kept bananas in the kitchen because she was forever making banana pudding for the family. If she ever had any ripe bananas left over, she would bake a nice loaf of banana bread, the simple recipe.

Now ah days banana bread is not a simple plain ole recipe anymore. Banana Breads have been fancied up and are as mouth watering to look at as they are to eat. Banana breads are so visual to look at and when you slice them.... the speckled colors are lovely. Very visual yall.

This good looking photo by (jspatchwork from flicker.com) is a Glazed Crumb Topped Banana Bread. Wow does that topping look fantastic or what!! I've put the Crumble Topping Directions below but you will need to follow this link to get the complete banana bread recipe.

Crumble Topping
2 Tablespoons slivered almonds
2 Tablespoons macadamia nuts, chopped
2 Tablespoons oatmeal
1 graham cracker, crushed
1 Tablespoon light brown sugar
1 Tablespoon butter

Glaze
Powdered Sugar, Cinnamon
Milk or Half & Half

In a small bowl mix together sugar, oats, and nuts. Cut in butter until mixture resembles coarse cornmeal. Place on top of hot banana bread fresh out of the oven.

Combine sugar with a few drops vanilla and enough milk for a drizzling consistency. Drizzle away everyone!

My girlfriend made me a oreo cookie banana bread and it was really good. I don't have the recipe to share because were no longer a couple but maybe someone will add it to your blog. It was really tasty.

I make banana bread for my family all the time. I just make the standard recipe because I don't have time for anything fancy. I love your website. The Working Mom
