World Day For Animals In Laboratories (also known as World Lab Animal Day - World Day for Laboratory Animals) is observed every year on 24 April. The surrounding week has come to be known as "World Week for Animals In Laboratories". The National Anti-Vivisection Society (NAVS) describe the day as an "international day of commemoration" for animals in laboratories.  --World Day For Animals In Laboratories was established in 1979 by the British National Anti-Vivisection Society (NAVS). The date 24 April was chosen as it marked the birthday of former NAVS president Hugh Dowding, 1st Baron Dowding. - Today the event is marked by demonstrations and protests by groups opposed to the use of animals in research.

Genocide Remembrance Day (Armenian:Episcopal Church (USA)) or Genocide Memorial day, is a national holiday in Armenia and Nagorno-Karabakh Republic and is observed by Armenians in dispersed communities around the world on April 24. It is held annually to commemorate the victims of the Armenian Genocide from 1915 to 1923. In Yerevan, the capital of Armenia, hundreds of thousands of people walk to the Tsitsernakaberd Genocide Memorial to lay flowers at the eternal flame.
