Everyone crows about a "Wing It Eating Party" so why not host one

It's time to host those "Wing It" Parties everyone!

I have talked quite a bit about sauces and biscuits & gravies lately which reminded me of a great menu for an indoor or outdoor party. What am I talking about? I'm talking about "Wing It Eating Parties"!! What is a "Wing It" party? Well it's a food party that's based on all types of chicken wings, hot wings and buffalo wings based on all types of flavors. The wing meat itself can be baked, deep fried, battered or grilled just like in the photo above.

Let's talk some facts first

A buffalo wing, hot wing or wing is a chicken wing section (drumette or flat) that is traditionally fried unbreaded and then coated in sauce. Classic Buffalo-style chicken wing sauce is composed of a vinegar-based cayenne pepper hot sauce and butter. Buffalo wings are traditionally served with celery sticks and blue cheese dressing.

How To Plan A Buffalo Wing, Chicken Wing, Hot Wing Party!

This is going to be very simple. It's your job as a host to fill the meal table with chicken wings, celery sticks and salad, biscuits, butter and honey with all the different kinds of sauces that you can think of.

  • Plan A Wing-It Theme Party ~ Everyone crows about a "Wing It Party" at least that what my invitation said so why not host one. A wing it party is just that; it's a food party that's based on chicken wings in all kinds of flavors. You can choose to host a potluck style party where each guest brings a plate full of their favorite wings in their favorite wing sauce or you can set up a buffet style party where you provide all the sauces and toppings yourself.
  • Popular Wing Flavors ~ hot buffafo, sweet chili, honey garlic, parmesan, parmesan garlic, hot sauce, barbecue, honey mustard, teriyaki, lemon pepper, blue cheese, sweet thai, pineapple, honey hoisin, are just a few of the choices.
  • Shaker Toppings would be~ shakers full of spices, shaker full of herbs, shaker full of Parmesan cheese, shaker full of BBQ rub, shaker full of celery flakes and a shaker full of pepper flakes. Shakers add a special spark to the table that guests really really love.
  • Don't forget the sides & dressing~ A wing it party wouldn't be complete if it didn't have the traditional raw veggies and dressing with it. Not only serve raw celery and carrots but why not serve bell pepper, broccoli and cauliflower too. All of these go great with salad dressings. The #1 dressing is ranch and blue cheese.
  • Breads~ I don't know why but biscuits go great with chicken but at restaurants you don't usually get biscuits with it. Biscuits, butter and honey are fantastic flavor matches to chicken wings. Now easy bread sticks are a fantastic choice too. Bread sticks covered in oil and parmesan like you get at a pizza place is a good choice. And an odd choice is different jams and jellies. Try warmed up and melted preserves too. That super sweet fruity taste is great for the meat and for the bread.
  • Provide Dessert~ Oh yes! Every party is expected to have dessert. It doesn't really matter what you go with.... cupcakes, cookies or pie to name a few and all will work just fine.
  • Gift Giving & Door Prizes~ Decide if you want to play any games or provide any activities at your wing it party. You may just want to host a munch out where no games are played but tons of food is provided for a real wing it munch out. If you don't have games you may want to at least give a door prize to one lucky winner. It could be something as special as a bottle of homemade BBQ sauce to something as silly as a stuffed animal that looks like a chicken.
  • Added Fun~ For added fun you could meet all your guests at the door in a chicken costume! Oh yeahhh I said it! Are you brave enough to do it? This has been done many times so don't think it hasn't. Don't forget to do the chicken dance. Speaking of chicken dance.... why not have all your guest do the chicken dance. It's fun for all ages.

A Sauce Preparation

Cayenne pepper hot sauce and melted butter or margarine are the basis of the sauce. Buffalo wing sauce can be made with a variable amount of heat/spiciness, with the names of these sauces generally corresponding to the level of heat, such as mild, medium, or hot. Typically, the wings are deep-fried (although they are sometimes grilled or baked). The wings are usually fried in oil until they reach close to a golden-brown color. They are then drained where they can either be placed in a bowl with sauce or even seasoned with salt and pepper. Following this, one covers the bowl tightly and shakes to coat the wings. As an alternative to waiting to coat the wings until after they are cooked, one can also put seasoning over the wings in a sealed bag and shake them until they are coated evenly. Afterwards, arrange the wings on a baking and wait until they are cook thoroughly. Wings can then be served dry with sauce on the side.

Party Food / Ham Roll Ups

When you need something fast that looks fancy~

Hi everyone, if you need something fast that looks fancy, then go for the ham roll ups. This is finger food that's fast to make and is perfect for a wine party planned for a few guests. The picture above shows ham rolled up with a filling inside then tied off with green onion.

Let's talk about the green onion~

The green onion is used to hold the roll together but if you use really thin ham, you can roll it up without needing a onion to hold it. But the onion looks beautiful and tastes great with a cheese filling inside the roll up. Now another great thing about using onion is this.... if the guest doesn't want to eat onion then they can simply leave it on the plate. This is just an easy way to add onion without adding onion. lol~

Now let's talk about the Filling Inside~

The filling put inside ham roll ups are usually a cream cheese spread that's flavored with things like onion, chives, herbs, peppers, tomatoes, cucumber etc. This is the most popular filling that people just absolutely love. But at your party you could go with 2 different filling if you want to give your guests an option. You could go with a different cheese spread like pimento cheese spread.

A great way to get your mind to thinking about spread ideas is to research tea sandwich spreads. Tea sandwich spreads are used a lot in ham roll ups. Yep they sure are! Also research party cheese balls. Many cheese ball recipes will work fantastic used as a filling for ham roll ups. Some of those even include chopped nuts. Now a favorite one that I love to use is pineapple. Oh yes! Pineapple, ham and cream cheese goes fantastic together. It would be your sweet roll up.

Offer your guest a sweet option & a savory option.

Everybody's taste buds move from sweet to salty to sweet to salty so its nice to offer your guests both but you don't have too. Just know that cream cheese filling works great for both options. As I mentioned about pineapple works great as a sweet option but so does cherries. Ham roll ups; a simple idea that looks like you spent a lot of prep time on it but it really pulls together really fast. And if your serving wine... well we all know how wine and cheese goes perfect together so you can't miss. This will be a treat for your guests.

You can make these the day before

Another great thing that I love about this is... you can make these the day before and just put them in the refrigerator for the flavors to meld together. You don't have to be in a hurry to get the job done. Make them a day or 2 before and seal them in a container. You will be good to go. If you're a person that's pushed for time this takes a lot of weight off your shoulders.

.............................................................★☆★............................................................

My Closing Thoughts~

  • 😁 I just wanted to share a simple idea for everyone because I know that people experience hard times but want to offer something special to their friends. You may not have the budget to do a full spread of party food. But a wine party is low key and is perfect for a get together that doesn't require a lot of food. Ham roll ups, wine and a bowl of olives, maybe a bowl of nuts for. You're done! Enjoy your guests.

No fuss Entertaining with 4 Breads and 4 Cheeses

It's time for an easy Bread and Cheese Grazing Table

Friends we are talking about no fuss entertaining with 4 breads and 4 cheeses. Add a few condiments on the side and that's all you need to entertain a party of 10. There's really nothing easier than this idea I promise you.

What I like about it is the fact you can make it as hard or as easy on yourself as you wish. If you have the time and the know how you can make the homemade fresh bread yourself or you can go to the bakery and buy 4 different types of freshly made bread and you're done.

Think about choosing both sweet bread and savory bread.

Think of it like this. The savory bread represents the main meal, and the sweet bread represents the dessert.

Let's talk Cheese ~

While you're at the store, pick yourself out 4 different types of cheese. It doesn't matter at all which cheese it is just make sure all 4 are different and make sure they are large wheels for slicing.

Then the condiments....

you guessed it, pick yourself out 4 spreadable condiments. Like... honey, jam, jelly, mustard, mayo, sandwich spread, horseradish spread, tuna spread, pickle relish, hot pepper relish, sweet pepper relish, plain cream cheese, fruit cream cheese or any of the full runs of herb butters or sweet fruit butters. This is where YOU get to choose the theme of your bread and cheese grazing table.

Now don't forget the 4 sides that everyone loves to eat along with bread and cheese. You know the ones. Like olives, onions, pickles and pears.

Do you feel like going one more step?

Do you have a toaster?
Maybe you would like to offer hot toasted bread and cheese. Keep in mind though... this would tie you down a bit serving your guests. So, you have to ask yourself... Do I want to be serving them all night or do I want to be part of mingling with them??

Can you get your hand on fresh herbs?
Offer a selection of flavorful herbs to top the bread masterpieces.

Closing Thoughts ~

Friends as I said in the very beginning of this post, we are talking about no fuss entertaining with 4 breads and 4 cheeses. Add a few condiments on the side and that's all you need to entertain a party of 10. There's really nothing easier than this idea I promise you. Simple Entertaining! "Live Everyday like A Holiday." .....................................................★☆★......................................................

Definition of a Dip: A dipping sauce or dip is a common condiment for many types of food. Dips are used to add flavor to a food, such as pita bread, dumplings, crackers, cut-up raw vegetables, seafood, cubed pieces of meat and cheese, potato chips, tortilla chips, or falafel. Unlike other sauces, instead of applying the sauce to the food, the food is typically put into, or dipped, into the dipping sauce (hence the name). Dips are commonly used for finger foods and other easily held foods.  Dip is a very widespread food; forms of it are eaten all over the world.
