Making your study area a comfortable surrounding

Making your study area a comfortable surrounding

I think one of the best things I can do to combat the stress of working a lot on the laptop, is to make my work area a pleasant area. I spend a lot of time behind my laptop doing research for my videos and articles. So, when I'm working on time sensitive stuff my stress level moves up a notch. I really feel more relaxed if I make sure my desk area / work area is pleasing to me and comforting to me.

Here's a few ways I do that~

The way I do that is to make sure I have the little things around me that bring me joy and help me to relax. The photo above 🠝 is a good example of that. First, I'm drawn to lace and having a lace runner or tablecloth feels good to me.

A pretty cup and saucer

I need the saucer to hold the drippings from my hot tea or coffee since I have a tablecloth, so I will always use a pretty matching saucer. For some strange reason it makes me feel organized. Go figure~

I really can't function without a live plant on the table of some sort.

It's either a houseplant, a little flower arrangement, a cluster of fresh herbs or a flower bulb that I'm forcing into bloom just like the one you see in the photo.

For one, live plants, herbs and flowers have pleasant smells that help to filter the air which I really love. And when you've come home from one job and have to jump straight away on your Internet articles you end up typing for hours. When that happens your tired... and when that wonderful smell moves across your nose it feels so up lifting and gives me strength to go on. The other is the fact that the plant is alive and having a bit of life sitting beside me is comforting.

Touch / Sight / Hearing / Smell / Taste

They say that if you follow the 5 senses you will be happier and more relaxed. Those 5 senses are (touch / sight / hearing / smell / taste) I think they are right about that because I'm always more content if I follow those suggestions and keep things around me that spark those senses.

Candlelight or a little lamp

The other things that I enjoy is a little small lamp of some type or a simple little candle. I love to look at candlelight and the smell is wonderful too. But if it's nighttime and I'm still writing then the flicker of the candle puts me to sleep instead of keeping me awake. I have to switch to the lamp at night. Ha!

The only other thing missing is...

...either tea and teacakes, fresh hot cookies out of the oven with milk, or coffee and cake sitting by the computer. Eating and drinking as I work is a must in my book. Ha! Hey, I bet those sweets help you think better too don't they! giggle~ I know it gives you energy. Well, let me be truthful... this is what I would do if it was early early morning, and I was typing before daylight. This would be my breakfast for sure. Smile~

πŸ’‘That's my thoughts for today. It's good to be reminded to keep the clutter away from the work area and to add the things around you that make you comfortable.

Make Strawberry Fruit Tea as Sun Tea with added Mint

Strawberry Fruit Tea Sun Tea / Iced

In honor of June being National Iced Tea Month I know many of my readers are looking for new tea ideas for the month and many bloggers are sharing tea ideas on their blogs this month. So, I wanted to do the same. Today I wanted to suggest "Strawberry Fruit Tea Sun Tea.".  .  .  then ice it.

Strawberries are in Season

Strawberries are popping out all over the place and in several different varieties. The gardens are full of them which means the grocery stores will be full of them. Some taste sweet and some taste sour. All varieties make a great strawberry tea.

I know some of you are thinking... sour tea... I don't want sour tea.  lol~ But remember this... Lemonade is a sour drink and think about how great that tastes. So even if you get a basket of sour variety strawberries don't worry. It will taste great.

Herbs are a great addition:

Herbs are a great addition for making homemade sun tea. The light flavors go great with strawberries when its sun brewed. But be advised if you boil the water instead; the mints can be strong in flavor. Another great point is... herbs are good for you.

Strawberry Mint / Mint Varieties

There are several varieties of mint. You can go with the traditional peppermint, but you could also go with spearmint, sweet mint, chocolate mint, apple mint or even... you guessed it. "Strawberry Mint" ~ Strawberry mint is great in tea and great in salads and desserts too. I really hope you're lucky enough to have this one. Its flavor is a mix of strawberries and mint. This one will grow indoors in a hanging basket too. A real great find. (πŸ›’strawberry mint)

Options if you're not into mints

If your not into mints but you are into herbs then you could try pineapple sage. Sage? Yes there's a sage that tastes sweet like pineapple! Wow! Or even lemon balm. Lemon balm tastes lemony. Oh, there's even a banana mint but I haven't tried that in tea yet.

Last but not least: If you're not into herbs at all then just do it the simple way. Use your favorite loose tea and add sliced strawberries in it to sun brew. Strawberry tea is so easy; I would hate for you to miss out on the fun just because you don't like herbs.

Brew it in the Sun then add sugar

Now you can always boil up water and pore over strawberries and herbs and then wait for it to cool down before you add the ice. (or drink it hot) But it's so fun to put the sliced strawberries and fresh picked herbs out of the garden and put them in a large glass pitcher in the full sun and watch it do it's thing. It will slowly infuse the water for a refreshing summer drink. Then add the sugar once the water has fully warmed up, after it brews in the suns magic.

Some people say they add the sugar in the beginning of sun brewing while others say it blocks the release of the herbs, so they wait until the end. I suggest you have some fun and make 2 of them. One adding the sugar first and one adding the sugar last then see which one has the best flavor. I hope my readers post their results.

Then take a look at how beautiful the tea is.

It's colorful and bright and would be a great drink for a garden party. Hey! Maybe I should make a post about garden party teas... lol.

Look at that red and white / candy striped straw too. Hehehe! That is the perfect final touch don't you think? So fun!

I hope this helps. "Live everyday like a holiday." Pam

Enjoy an Iced Tea Summer

I'm titling this post " Enjoy an Iced Tea Summer."

I don't know how the weather is where you're at, but I do know where I'm at the summer days are really heating up and I've found myself making homemade southern sweet tea just about every day. I really love sweet tea and I especially love that the summer flowers are here where I can flavor my sweet tea with lots of beautiful blossoms from the garden. It really is a treat that you just can't get in the wintertime.

The picture above says it all don't you think?

That pitcher of tea full of ice cubes looks so refreshing don't you think? And look at the size of that giant glass of tea. Now that's the size glass of tea I'm talking about when it come to a hot summer day. That glass is almost as big as the pitcher itself. LOL~
Serve Iced Tea and sweet treats too!

The cupcakes are just perfect in their spring colors. Summer, sweet tea and spring colors all go together and when you're serving it to guest on a beautiful summer day it's magical. I think the only thing you have to worry about is the sun melting the sweet icing. But hey, they will get gobbled up fast right. wink~

Let's add a simple flower arrangement

Oh yes... if you have something beautiful blooming in the yard then by all means you have to go take some cutting of it and display it on your iced tea treat table so everyone can get an up-close view of its beauty. I truly believe in celebrating the flowers and also being able to smell the lovely blossoms seems to make the tea taste sweeter. giggle~

The things that make real memories

An iced tea summer table is perfect for a day off with friends and family. Our life is so fast paced now that we need to go back to remembering the simple things in life. Things like simple sweet tea... things like simple cupcake... things like simple blossom cutting. These are the things that make real memories.

June is National Iced Tea Month

I thought this post was fitting today because June is National Iced Tea Month and I wanted to inspire my friends to slow life down and remember to celebrate cold iced tea. If you don't like the taste of iced tea, I encourage you to try a new flavor. Tea come in many added flavors now.

I will be placing this post in my "Tea Time Tuesday" category if you ever want to find it again. Thank you so much for visiting my blog today...and... Don't forget those lemons on the side. wink~ "Live everyday like a holiday." Pam

Lemongrass stir sticks for tea time

Today I'm sharing how I make lemongrass stir sticks for my tea.

Lemongrass is very easy to grow in the garden and the smell is such a delight. It has a true lemon scent when you rub the grass, cut the grass or even just brush up against it when walking in the garden. It is a grass and for those that's not familiar with it... the blades of the grass has a gripping quality and it's easy to cut your fingers on it. In fact the grass is like little blades in your hand so you have to be aware of what your doing. ~wink

Better Health / Religion

There's several species of lemongrass but the one I have in my garden is the one I've always known that was used for healthy digestion and to boost immunity when added as hot tea. It also has antioxidant properties they say. Plus I cook with it. I use it in soups, beef dishes, fish dishes and seafood dishes.  And... even thought I don't make curries very often, it is popular in curries too.

There are religions and cultures that use some varieties to conjur, to protect against evil, spiritually clean a house, and to bring good luck in love as they say it. They use the fresh grass or lemongrass oil. I'm sure you've all heard of lemongrass oil.

I loveeeee lemongrass oil used in a diffuser.

In fact it's diffusing in my kitchen as we speak. lol!  Now if you read some essential oil bottles it will tell you it overpowers the feelings of nervousness, gives you a positive outlook, eliminates mental fatigue and heightens your awareness. Lemongrass can be applied topically, used aromatically or taken internally. That's why I love this simple herb. Yes I'm going to call it an herb. It's an herb to me an not just a grass.

Lemongrass Stir Sticks

I can actually say I've never heard of anyone else but me making lemongrass stir sticks and I can't imagine why. lol~. I've always made them and put them in my hot tea when fresh lemongrass was in season. I did a google search about it and couldn't find anyone doing it except in cooking so I wanted to spark everyone creative tea thinking and remind everyone that you can make lemongrass stir sticks for something fun and lemon tasting for your tea.

Emotional Aspects of Lemongrass?

Now when I think about tea, I think of quiet times, comfort, my emotional mood etc. Now that I think about it, I always reach for hot tea when I'm feeling sad because I really do see it as a comfort to me. They say that Lemongrass has "Emotional Aspects" to it too. They say it releases the feeling of dread and failure and removes toxicity. I wonder? It is also said lemongrass instills joy and spiritual cleansing. I wonder about that too. What is your experience? I believe it to be true since I reach for it for comfort. Once you drink it, or use lemongrass, it creates a lighter emotion. I wonder if it helps cleanse the mind, body and soul? I think so~

I hope you enjoyed my video.

If any of my Internet friends love lemongrass, then share it with me. I would love to know any other ways to us it to spark my own herbal creativity. ~Smileeee

A Tea Parties is a formal, ritualized gathering for afternoon tea but it's a good excuse for conversations about life, exchanging recipes, and sharing holiday ideas too. Formal tea parties are often characterized by the use of prestige utensils, such as bone china or silver. The table is made to look its prettiest, with cloth napkins and matching cups and plates. In addition to tea, larger parties may provide punch, or in cold weather, hot chocolate. The tea is accompanied by a variety of easily managed foods: thin tea sandwiches, such as cucumber or tomato, cake slices, buns or rolls, and cookies are all common.
