Frog watching me while picking my sugar snap peas

πŸ’–I Love Frogs
If your one of those people who has followed me over the 30 years, I've been online; then you know how much I love frogs. If you don't know me that well... then; I'm that person that always had a frog as a pet. LOL

So, when I noticed this beautiful white/gray tree frog I was "delighted to say the least," and had to grab the camera to share him with everybody.

πŸ’—I'm not afraid of frogs and I wouldn't dare hurt the little guy.

He was so calm and attentive with me. It didn't matter which side of the plant I moved to, he stayed put, but his pretty little eyes would keep an eye on me. Ha ha! His little eyes would follow me.

Today I just wanted to share a part of my day and let you see a little happy moment in time for me. It truly made me smile and I thank God for the little creatures. I was very happy to share my sugar snap pea plant with him. And ya know what... I bet he was eating any bugs he saw on the plant too. Heyyyy I'm all for that! "My little garden helper."

Here's how I cook Sugar Snap Peas

Friends, yesterday I posted a "Munch for Lunch" video with sugar snap peas as the vegetable for the meal. In the post I put a link to the video I made that showed how I cooked the sugar snap peas. Well.... after thinking it over I decided to go ahead and post the video on my blog here as well. So here it is.

πŸ˜†Let's Cook Sugar Snap Peas: This Video

The video starts out like this... "Ahhh guys I just picked... a bowllll fullll.... of sweet sugar snap peas.... right from my patio garden.... so..... "Let's Get Cookin" "

Snicker~ I had a lot of fun making this video and I had a lot of happy taste buds eating all those sugar snaps too. Ha!

😏Now I didn't waste all that bacon and butter fat you see in that pan.

That was a lot of bacon fat! In fact, I had enough fat to cook a few more things for sure. I cooked those peas in it yes, but I drained the peas then reserved the rest for the meat I was cooking as well. Plus... I saved some to brush on some homemade bread I made. I loveeee doing that. Anyway the video doesn't show that part. No wasting for me. But I do have to say I ate an over load of bacon for the day.

In Closing

I hope you all enjoy this little cooking video of beans. lol~ Not very exciting I know but the music on the video is so fun. hehehe! You guys know my motto ~

The last of my sugar snap peas

Don't you just hate it when sugar snap season is over? 😞

It's the last of my sugar snap peas because the weather is just too hot for them now. Their peak season is March through April. I know sugar snaps are cold season plants, but I sure have enjoyed having them grow all the way up to June for me. Yep they like cool weather and once the temperature reaches 80 degrees they start to wither away. "I will miss you ssp"

I grew them in flower pots and they did fantastic.

My garden is strictly a patio garden. I grew them in LARGE flower pots and they did fantastic. Once the heat was to much for them I moved them to a shadier location to try and help them to hang on. They hung on too! But sadly I will be cooking the last bowl of sugar snap peas for the season because the hot air is just to much for them even in the shade. (guess I will have to buy frozen now) Bummer!

Edible Pods

Sugar Snap Peas can be eaten right off the vine. Oh yes they can and oh how sweet they are. The pods are soft and just perfect for garden grazing. Ha!

They are the perfect topper to green salads too!

Yes I know the most popular way for most people to eat them is in stir fry recipes but really I can't pick which is my favorite way to eat them. I love love love them quick fried with butter and served with steak and potatoes though. Yum!

Hey did you know?

Guys did you know that growing them puts nitrogen back into the soil? That's great!

In Closing:

Growing up I never ate sugar snap peas. My parents never grew them in the garden and we always had a huge garden. It was only as an adult that I gained taste buds for the little sweeties. I still remember the first time I ever ate them. It was at a steak house restaurant and steamed sugar snap peas came with my meal. When I saw them on the plate I said.... "what are these plump little things?" lol! Delish! I was hooked! They are now a favorite of mine not just to eat but to grow too.

😘Love to all, Pam

Menu: Steak, sugar snap peas, baked potato & green salad

Well guys I'm celebrating one of my favorite meals.

I don't know whether to call this my "Munch for Lunch" meal or a "Super Sunday Supper." Lol! The fact is I cooked enough for both! Now having said that... I think I will list it in both categories on the right-hand side of the blog; (in the side bar) in case you ever need to find it again.

What's on the menu for today?

Today we have a beautiful fried steak in butter and bacon grease.... we have fresh sugar snap peas from my patio garden... we have a baked potato smothered in lots of melted butter and sour cream. And last but not least... a fresh green salad with lots of dressing on the side.

The Green Salad:

You can't see the salad very much in the picture, but the lettuce was fresh and crisp. I went with blue cheese dressing and a homemade Italian dressing. What can I say, I mixed the 2 dressings together because it tastes delish! πŸ˜ƒ (just so you know... this is my go-to for when I eat spaghetti or manicotti) The rest of the time I'm a ranch dressing girlie.~ Now all the dark green sprinkles on top of the salad is the heavy amount of herbs that I chopped for the top. I always use what ever my herb garden has to offer.

Steak: Now I did soak the meat in a salty brine

Yep, I did soak the meat in a salty brine of pink Hamalian salt for a bit. I always do this with a cheap cut of steak. Ha! It helps the meat absorb more water and hold its moisture. Makes it more tender / And nice flavor

Well, there's my Munch for Lunch for today

I wish you could have smelled the meat cooking... and I wish you could have tasted how yummy it was too. The picture just makes your mouth water, doesn't it? Yep... it was steak day at my house and the fresh seasoning and herbs is what made it taste so fresh and good. And ya know what... I didn't even have an expensive cut of steak either and it was tender and juicy.

In Closing: This is a favorite meal for me~

There's just something about buttered sugar snap peas that goes perfect with a steak. Would you like to see my video of my favorite way to cook the sugar snap peas? I cook them in bacon and butter fat and it only takes about 8 minutes to cook. I posted the video on my youtube channel but your welcome to go watch. Hummm.... maybe I should post the full video on my blog too.
