I love Goulash! I make it all the time and I change it up a bit according to what veggies I have in the frig. It reminds me of hamburger helper. lol! Maybe because of all the macaroni but I think mostly because it's comfort food. Yes I know a lot of veggies are not really part of American Goulash. Smile~
The picture at the left is American Goulash. Some people call it "slumgullion" but I have always just known it as goulash. But here is your starter recipe for American Goulash.
Ingredients of American Goulash
The ingredients of American goulash now usually include elbow macaroni, cubed steak, ground beef or "hamburger", and tomatoes in some form, whether canned whole, as tomato sauce, tomato soup, and/or tomato paste.

You can make it a stew by adding cooked cubed potatoes and diced bell peppers but that turns it into Hungarian Goulash. But still great.
You can add a can of corn, or more onions or even red bell peppers and it's great too! Really just about any veggie that you like. Mushrooms are good and carrots too! But again.... that turns it into a different type of goulash but still goulash.

If you've never ate goulash before.... give it a try ok. Lots-ah-love yall!
