Champagne Breakfast

Well it seems that on this holiday we're to drink champagne! Most people need a good reason to drink champagne because it's more of a celebration drink. In researching this holiday it seems the favorite way to celebrate National Champagne Day is by having a "Champagne Breakfast, Brunch, or lunch.

Wikipedia tells us that "A champagne breakfast is a breakfast served with champagne or sparkling wine." So on this day it's traditional to have a champagne breakfast with either you and a loved one or for a group of people. What a wonderful relaxing way to start the day!

In many ways, the foods remind me of a tea party. You know how a "breakfast tea" will have pastries, fruit and a bit of chocolate; well a champagne breakfast will have the same except you add a couple of- shall I say more elaborate dishes to the table, like fancy Hors d'Ĺ“uvres.

"It may be part of any day or outing considered particularly luxurious or indulgent. The accompanying breakfast is sometimes of a similarly high standard and include rich foods such as salmon, caviar, chocolate or pastries, which would not ordinarily be eaten at breakfast or more courses."

In my reading- I found that "It can also consist simply of a full English breakfast accompanied by champagne".
Happy Champagne Day!

Pam I'm having a champagne breakfast this week to celebrate a friends first house. It will be a table of 5 ladies and were giving housewarming gifts too. We do it all the time here in California. It makes the guests feel important too.

Thank you for this post! I've looked everywhere for information on this holiday and had a hard time finding out what food to serve.

I went to a Champagne Brunch one time and they served deviled eggs with caviar on top.I do remember the bread was to beautiful to eat.

I've got a good one. Strawberries go so well with champagne and my club girls always have a strawberry champagne breakfast on champagne day. We have a large strawberry on the side of our glass, fresh strawberries and cream on the table, strawberries dipped in white chocolate and strawberry pancakes and syrup. A lovely idea.

Oh Maymee that sound fantistic! I love the strawberry idea for sure! There are tons of strawberry flavored foods that we could serve. The list could go on and on. Thank you for posting that idea. I'm sure our readers will love it too. Pam :)

I think we should keep in mind that a champagne breakfast is for serving fancy upper class food. Let me say again. A champagne breakfast is for serving upper class food and not common everyday food. Champagne is special and should accompany special foods. "The Wine House"

I'm a party planner and our clients are not as fussy with the food we serve for a champagne brunch. Just serve fresh food and let the champagne be the star of the meal. The table setting should be fabulous!

Hi Nancy, thanks for the post. You made a great point when you said "the table setting should be fab!"

I forgot to mention in my article that anytime you host a champagne breakfast, the table should be set very proper according to what I've read. This reminder will help a lot of first time party hosts. Pam :)

P.S. Even a champagne picnic uses real plates and cloth napkins. No plastic forks!

This sounds like a great excuse to pop open a bottle of champagne at the office.

We are having a champagne breakfast tomorrow. We got the idea from this blog. Our theme is blueberries. I read on your other website to put a bamboo stick full of blueberries in a glass and thought the idea was great. So the blueberry theme was born. Blueberry pancakes and blueberry scones with cream and champagne with blueberries.
