Watermelon and Lemonade

We are halfway through July and most of us in the United States have been taking advantage of it being National Picnic Month and National Watermelon Month. It seems watermelon and lemonade are two flavors that are enjoyed together and there is no shortage of either one at summer picnics. 

In honor of that I wanted to remind everyone that they can easily make watermelon lemonade to help use up all those watermelons in the garden. It's a real easy recipe that you can't get wrong. lol! The mild flavor of the watermelon blends nicely with the tart lemon juice and makes a refreshing drink that everyone loves!  I can't think of a better way to use up all those watermelons in the garden either can you? I mean really.... you can only eat so many chilled really cold watermelons on a hot day anyway right. ha ha! Yes yes I love them too. Enjoy the watermelon lemonade ya'll. :)

Watermelon Lemonade

The mild flavor of the watermelon blends nicely with the tart lemon juice.

6 cups watermelon

1 cup water

1/3 cup sugar

1/2 cup lemon juice

Remove as many seeds as you can from the watermelon flesh. Place watermelon and water in a blender and blend until smooth. Strain liquid into a pitcher, along with sugar and lemon juice. Stir until sugar is dissolved. Refrigerate until chilled, then serve.
