Celebrate National Strawberry Parfait Day on June 25th

Happy National Strawberry Parfait Day! (June 25) Parfait is a type of food that is eaten as a dessert. It is a French word that means perfect. Parfaits are made differently in different countries, and we think a good excuse for hosting a strawberry parfait party.

When is National Strawberry Parfait Day?

This food holiday is always celebrated on June 25th every year. The whole month of June is National Frozen Yoghurt Month so many people celebrate this day by serving frozen yogurt parfaits instead of ice cream parfaits.

How to celebrate National Strawberry Parfait Day

This holiday celebrates the ice cold treat of strawberries in parfait form. It's time to bring awareness to those who have not yet tired a strawberry parfait by making some and sharing it as an after-dinner dessert or by serving at a parfait party. Parfait parties can be nice quiet parties between family, or it can be a real big bash full of strawberries, ice cream, yogurt and more strawberries.

Origin of this holiday

My research did not find the creator, or the origin of this day. I did however find that this holiday has been celebrated for years. There is plenty of documentation to support that this holiday does indeed exist. This is referred to as a "National" day. However, we did not find any congressional records or presidential proclamations for this day. Even though I didn't, this is still a holiday to celebrate.

I found recognition about this holiday from:

Calendar sites and personal Internet sites that blog and share information about this holiday.

United States

In The United States, parfait refers to either the traditional French-style dessert or to a popular variant, the American parfait, made by layering parfait cream, ice cream, and/or flavored gelatins in a tall, clear glass, and topping the creation with whipped cream, fresh or canned fruit, and/or liqueurs. In the northern United States, parfaits may also be made by using yogurt layered with nuts or fresh fruits such as peaches, strawberries, or blueberries.

BBQ Parfaits

Although the traditional American parfait is sweet, savory parfaits have also been concocted, such as a parfait made by layering mashed potatoes with barbecue sauce and pulled pork. Who's-gonna-try-that-one?

Now let's learn a bit about parfaits

In France, parfait refers to a frozen dessert made from a base of sugar syrup, egg, and cream. A parfait contains enough fat, sugar, alcohol and/or to a lesser extent air to allow it to be made by stirring infrequently while freezing, making it possible to create in a home kitchen without specialist equipment. The fat, sugar, alcohol or air interferes with the formation of water crystals, which would otherwise give the ice cream an uncomfortable texture in the mouth. The formation of ice crystals is managed in the making of regular ice cream by agitating the ice cream constantly while it freezes or chemically by adding glycerol. Neither should be necessary when making a high-quality parfait.
